Welcome to the St James Primary School's E-News, a weekly roundup of the latest goings on at the school.

Many of you will have seen the Prime Minister's announcement yesterday that schools may reopen to more pupils on 8th March, and we all sincerely hope that this will take place. However, the government is clearly signalling that a number of factors will be taken into consideration when looking at reopening schools, so we are planning for different scenarios! There is also some discussion as to whether all pupils will return, or whether specific year groups will come back before others. I hope that all the children return at the same time.
This week staff started using the lateral flow tests twice weekly and will be reporting results to us and the NHS as part of the national effort to track and trace new cases. This is likely to continue even when schools reopen, so we hope this will give some peace of mind to both parents and staff moving forward.
We are also delighted to announce that we have received a generous anonymous donation of £1500 which we have used to buy eight chrome books and we have also been able to order another eight through the Department for Education device scheme. Together with some further donations of previously used laptops, we now have 20+ devices to distribute to children who need them. So if you feel your family needs an additional device, please look at the letter on our Parent Portal which includes a link to a device request form.
- Snowmen - we loved the pictures of the amazing snowmen that many of you sent in after the snow at the weekend.
- RSBP Big Garden Birdwatch - the Big Garden Birdwatch takes place this weekend. Please click on the picture to go to the RSBP Big Garden Birdwatch page to find all the information you need to take part.
