Our Pupil Premium Strategy 2025–2026
At St James, we are committed to ensuring every child thrives. Our pupil premium funding supports disadvantaged pupils by removing barriers to learning and promoting high achievement.
Key Priorities for This Year:
- School Readiness: Strengthening early language and social skills in EYFS.
- Writing and Maths Progress: Targeted teaching and interventions to close gaps.
- Attendance: Improving attendance for disadvantaged pupils to at least 95%.
- Wellbeing and Engagement: Providing enrichment activities and family support.
Why This Matters:
Last year, 67% of disadvantaged pupils met expectations in reading and 85% in writing, but none achieved the expected standard in maths. Attendance was 92.6% compared to 97.6% for peers. These gaps drive our focus for 2025–26.
Our Approach:
We use evidence-based strategies recommended by the Education Endowment Foundation, including:
- High-quality teaching and CPD
- Small-group and one-to-one tutoring
- Social and emotional learning programmes
- Strong parental engagement and attendance support
Together, these actions aim to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed.
