Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you to those of you who joined us in person and online for the Positive Parenting in a Digital World workshop last night. Laura Nott from the Lucy Faithfull Foundation provided us with some excellent tips and ideas for supporting our children as they learn to navigate the digital world. I would also like to thank Jude Thomas for her help in facilitating the workshop and contacting Laura.
For those of you who were unable to attend, the meeting was recorded and there is an accompanying PDF of the slides used by Laura. We will send this out as soon as possible and I would really encourage you to take a look at the information.
Best wishes,
Valerie Elliott

- A message from Surrey County Council regarding St Mary's School, Shackleford - the following statement has been sent to parents of children at St Mary's School Shackleford this afternoon - Pupil numbers in primary education across the county are currently falling due to a decline in the number of children being born. The impact of this is greatest across our small village infant schools and Surrey County Council is currently working with some of these schools to discuss options moving forward to ensure the sustainability of the excellent education that children are currently receiving. Any ideas for change will initially be discussed with school leaders and stakeholders, such as the diocese, followed by a consultation with the school community and the local community to hear their views and ideas. It is likely that a consultation could ask for views on several different ideas or proposals, so please be assured that no decisions on a way forward will be made until this consultation process has been completed and everyone has had the opportunity to express their views and ideas.
- DIY Day - thank you to everyone who came and helped on our recent DIY day. You have really helped to improve the appearance of our school grounds.
- Bikes and Scooters - for the safety of every member of our school family, please ensure that your children do not ride their bikes or scooters on school grounds. We ask that they dismount before they come onto site and walk their bike or scooter to where it is being stored.
- Saturday Sports Club - please see the details below of an event organised for young people with SEND and their families.
- Trick Box Focus - the trick that children are will be focusing on this week and next is Floating Cloud.
- Rota for Football on the Field - from next week the children will have the opportunity to play football on the field at lunch time. Children can only do this on their allotted day if they bring a spare pair of trainers to school with them. Please ensure that these are clearly named.
Tuesday - Year 5 and Year 1 & 2 girls
Wednesday - Year 3 and Year 4
Thursday - Year 5 & 6 girls
Friday - Year 1 and Year
