Accessibility & equality objectives
All children are welcome at St James Primary and we aim to meet the needs of individuals whatever their abilities.
Our Accessibility plans work towards equipping the school with the necessary resources for children with any given disability, including staff training requirements. We also work in partnership with outside agencies to support those with physical disabilities so they may lead as full and active a part in school life as they are able.
There is a ramp at the school entrance and playground with double opening doors allowing wheelchair access. Our portable ramp provides access to other areas. We have disabled toilet facilities and the school is single storey with no steps to negotiate in the main building. Our lighting, furnishing and decoration is planned to be appropriate for children with impaired vision or hearing.
