Robins trip to arundel castle
Wow! What better way to kick start our new topic of Castles than a trip to Arundel Castle. We were submerged in castle heritage and discovered so many new and interesting facts about Arundel and castles in general.
We walked up and down an exceptional amount of cobbly and steep steps to reach various parts of the castle and enjoyed taking in the authenticity of what it might have been like living in a castle all those years ago.
We visited the Armoury room and learnt about the different weapons they used in battle.
We visited the Barons' Hall and discovered a lot about the grand banquets that took place with the important members of the household and that the tapestries which hung on the walls were there to keep the stone walls warm.
The Keep
In the Education room the children we able to enjoy a hands on experience with various medieval artifacts and take part in some role play. We were also lucky enough to experience the dungeons, which were rather dark and dingy!
