kestrels venture out on the common

Kestrels visited the common for the first time since we welcomed them back to school. Throughout the morning the children used their map skills to identify where they were on the common, non-standard units of measure were used to record exact locations and observational drawings were made of their chosen area to study. They will be carrying out a year-long science project observing plant and animal life cycles on the common, particularly in areas affected by the fire earlier this year. If all of that wasn't enough, they also did a fantastic job of following the new Covid regulations in place including staying within their class bubble, regular hand cleansing and socially distancing from anyone who was not part of their bubble.

We are very proud of our new Kestrels, well done!

Just a few of our Kestrels searching for the perfect spot to observe and revisit over the coming year.
