Whole School Art Day

On the last day of half-term the whole school came together for a special 'art day'. Each class explored a different artist to be inspired by and produce their own interpretations. The children had a fantastic day and have produced some wonderful artwork. All artwork will be on display during our Open Morning, 7th November.

Penguins spent the day getting messy as they explored the work of Jackson Pollock (Autumn Rhythm 1950). Any excuse to make a mess! They also enjoyed listening to Jazz as Pollock did himself when he painted.

Owls were busy getting to know Pablo Picasso and in particular his sculpture Little Girl Jumping Rope (1950-54).

Robins looked to Piet Mondrian for inspiration, exploring one of his early pieces: The Red Tree (1908).

Kingfishers created a wonderful whole-class mural entitled I'automne et Herisson, inspired by Henri Matisse's La Perruche Et la Sirene (1954-58).

Woodpeckers looked to Frida Kahlo's 'The Frame' (1939) as they created fantastic self-portraits.

Kestrals explored the human figure and created sculptural pieces in the style of Alberto Giacometti.

Eagles used digital photography to recreate some of Normal Rockwell's famous images of American culture from the 1940s and 50s.

A creative day was had by all!
