Science at St James is based on enquiry learning.
Throughout each and every of our units of study the emphasis is on the children learning by doing. We have planned our units to provide activities that will enable the children to test their previously held ideas. In doing so, they will also be encouraged to develop a bank of skills and an understanding of the processes required to become good scientists.
Each unit of study contains a section outlining the most appropriate scientific vocabulary to be used when studying that particular area of science. This helps children to become familiar with, and use, technical terminology accurately and precisely. Our science curriculum is broad and covers all areas of study required by the national curriculum. All children study both physical and biological sciences throughout the year.
We utilise our wildlife garden and organise regular visits to Thursley common to further enrich the curriculum.
