Penguins' 'Helicopter Stories' in Action

This year, Penguins' teachers began a new initiative called 'Helicopter Stories' which is based around building children's literacy skills through storytelling and story acting (based on the work of Vivian Gussin Paley).  We  create a 'stage' and as a class we sit together in a circle to either act, listen or author a story. 

Here is a story told to Mrs B by Erin :

'Once upon a time there was one cat. The cat walking to the seaside, the cat saw a rainbow then the cat jumped into the sea. It saw the mermaid and then the mermaid got the dolphins and the mermaid got the sting-ray. The End'

Here it is being acted out by some actors from the class, we have a cat, a rainbow and one mermaid!
