Kite, Flight & Light
If you haven't already noticed, we have a brand new resident kite on our front lawn!
During the first lockdown, shortly after the fire on Elstead Common, local ceramicist, Trish, started to raise money to help the common recover. As part of this fund raising, St James Primary bought some tiles and asked our key worker classes, Kites, to paint our mosaic.
Mrs Marson created the image choosing a rainbow to remind us of the rainbows that appeared in windows during the first lockdown, a kite to remind us of our keyworker classes (and the kites that circle the village), and an image representing a phoenix rising from the ashes, just like the common will do.
We dedicate our mosaic to those lost during the pandemic of 2020 - 2021, and as a reminder of the resilience of our amazing village.
We hope you enjoy looking at it as much as we do.
Here is our kite with Head Pupils, Freddie and Penny.
