OWLS MISSION TO THE MOON

As part of STEM week, Owls were given a mission to design and build a space lander to protect two astronauts as they land on the moon.  They worked in teams to design and build the space landers, and had to follow a strict set of rules and only use the materials they were given.  One of the rules stated that they could only build underneath the space lander platform,  For it to be a successful mission, the two astronauts (corks) had to stay inside the space lander (plastic cup) as they were dropped from various heights.  The challenge promoted lots of discussion and learning around shock-absorption, drag, balance and stability.

I am happy to say that all of the teams worked brilliantly together, and with a little testing and tweaking, all of the space lander missions were a success!

Well done Owls!
