Kingsfishers at Forest School

What a day for our first St James Forest School!  In between huge gusts of wind, the sun shone, it  rained and hailed but it didn't affect our adventures outside.

We warmed up and 'travelled' to the site by playing a game that got us thinking about the wildlife that may live in our locality and, after we'd discussed the key Forest School site rules, we explored the site and had lots of time to initiate our own activities.

It was wonderful to have the children out at the site and was amazing to see so much creativity and imagination.  Here are just some of the things the children devised during their sessions; bug hunting, den building, ditch jumping, building mini bug houses in the roots of trees, making mud castles, mud cakes and mud hot chocolate (complete with sprinkles), watching the red kite hovering above us, and building bridges across crocodile infested water.
