Kingfishers Final Forest School

Our final Forest School session couldn't have been more idyllic. The sun shone, the air was warm and to top it all we toasted marshmallows!

To start with we played around the site and initiated our own games and ideas. There was so much to do: building bridges and platforms, making a buffet in the mud kitchen, creating channels in the digging pit, using a pulley to lift wooden blocks, extending our bug houses for more bugs and worms, leaping across the little ditch, feeding the tadpoles and making a teepee as a shelter for wild animals.

We then went to sit in our fire circle and took it in turns to toast marshmallows. Before the fire was lit, we discussed how to keep ourselves safe around a fire and practised how to toast an imaginary marshmallow. When Mrs Greggs was sure that everyone understood the fire rules we each cooked a marshmallow over the fire's embers.
