Eagles Remember

Here are photos of the work Year 6 have been doing on World War I.  We have been studying the poem 'Attack' by Siegfried Sassoon as part of our English. The children spent time on the common in the rain imagining that they were in a trench, surrounded by warfare and watching their friends be taken away with no explanation. They then returned to school to do a short burst diary entry. They also recycled tyres to make memorial wreaths, remembering all soldiers, but especially those who belonged to our village and lent their names to our Houses. Following on from our school Remembrance Service, we took a walk to the war memorial where we thanked our unknown soldiers for their sacrifices.
