Year 6 VE Day

On 7th May, Year 6 got dressed up in their 1940s style outfits to celebrate the 76th Anniversary of Victory in Europe; VE Day. The day started by raising the Union Flag on our flag pole and taking part in a minute's silence to remember the sacrifices made between 1939 and 1945. Throughout the day, we learnt some Lindy Hop dance moves and made our own butter.  The butter-making was turned into a race with one group using a balloon whisk, one group using a hand held rotary whisk, one group shaking a jar and the final group using an electric whisk.  To everybody's surprise, the jar shaking won and the electric whisk came last!  We ended our celebrations with a 'street party' on the field. We drank apple juice and ate the home-made tea loaf we made previously, butter and rhubarb jam. Everybody had a great day and participated with real enthusiasm!
