Sports Day Success 

Tilson on Top!

The St James Sports Day was a great celebration of all round athletic prowess and demonstrated a combination of individual effort and team work throughout the event.  Children rose to the new challenges; working in inclusive teams and supporting each others resilience.

The morning programme of events saw a rotation of sprinting, long distance running, standing long jump and throwing, all completed in houses.  After a short break, the house teams cheered on the hurdle races before breaking for a well-earned picnic lunch on the field with friends and family.

With children now sat in their classes, they cheered each other on in sprint races  before coming together for our new whole school event - egg and spoon relay - 210 children lined up to start!  Class relays, the toddlers race and parents fun race entertained the crowd and brought the day to the end, as we all eagerly awaited the results.

The champions were crowned at the end of a great day of sporting achievement and  a new name will be engraved on our new sports day shield - Tilson.

Thank you to all the children and staff who enjoyed making the day so memorable and to all parents who were able to join our picnic lunch and support the children.
