St James E-News

6th May 2021

Welcome to the St James Primary School's E-News, a weekly roundup of the latest goings on at the school.

Latest Headteachers Blog

Dear Parents,

We have had a change in our IT systems at St James Primary.  Following the success of our use of Microsoft Teams during the lockdown we have decided to use the Office 365 / Teams system in school when we work on the computers.

Your children all have passwords for Teams and will require these passwords when they log on in school.  It would be extremely helpful if you could ensure that either your child knows their password or has it written down inside the front cover of their reading record.  You will notice that their reading record already contains passwords for their school system login and perhaps other schemes. We have already begun to use the Teams system in school, and as such we would be grateful if you could add your child's password to their reading record as a matter of priority.

Best wishes for a lovely weekend,

Valerie Elliott

School Notices

  •  Parking - Unfortunately, we  still receive complaints from residents nearby regarding parking outside the school. Please remember to park considerately and carefully when dropping off and collecting your children.
  • The Big Ask survey - Surrey County Council wants to encourage every child and young person living in Surrey to take part in a new national survey,

Launched on Monday, 19 April, by the Children’s Commissioner for England, "The Big Ask" survey wants to hear from as many children as possible. The aim is to inform the Government what children and young people really think and to help improve children's lives in the future.

The survey is for children and young people between 4-17 years old. It is completely anonymous and does not ask children to submit any directly identifiable information. Please note; Easy read versions of the survey are also available.
For more details and to complete the survey, visit; The Big Ask survey.

  • National Read to Your Sibling Day - it is National Read To Your Sibling Day on 20th May.  Older children get a fabulous sense of responsibility and make wonderful role models for their younger siblings. Snuggling up reading a book together is fantastic for bonding and seeing their older siblings read to them will encourage the younger ones to follow suit.  Reading aloud to each other helps children enhance their communication skills and comprehension, as well as boosting their speech, vocabulary and language. This day was created by children's author, Kerry Gibb.  Click here for more information.

Covid-19 Information

  • Please remember; if your child or a member of your family have Covid-19 symptoms please do not send your child to school - Please immediately arrange a test for the symptomatic member of your family and inform the school office as soon as possible. Your child and all members of your household will need to self-isolate at least until you receive the test result.
  • Weekend Results: It is very important that you continue to notify us of Covid-19 test results still over the weekend by using the below email address which is monitored out of school hours.

     results@st-james-elstead.surrey.sch.uk

A negative result will require a confirmation from the school before your child and siblings can return to school.  Please do not send your child back to school until we have been in touch with you.
