St James E-News

2nd July 2020

Welcome to the St James Primary School's E-News, a weekly roundup of the latest goings on at the school.

Latest Headteachers Blog

Dear Parents,

As we wait for government guidance about the return to school of all children in September, we have already begun making plans and I hope to be able to share these with you next week. At the moment the strict guidance around social distancing and groups gathering still remains, so please ensure you enter and leave the school site as quickly as possible at drop-off and pick-up. We really do appreciate all your support with the measures we have had to put in place.

The school, with support from the Diocese, is looking to replace our two boilers, one is very old and one is now faulty and can't be repaired.  We are keen to look at affordable green energy options and want to avoid having to install a gas boiler.  Are there any parents who have experience in green energy heating who can advise and help us? If so, could you email me at head@st-james-elstead.surrey.sch.uk. Many thanks in advance!

Best wishes for a lovely weekend,

Valerie Elliott

For details please visit the Parent Portal to see the letter that has been emailed to all parents.
  • Charity Sale - From Monday 6th July until Thursday 9th July, we will be holding a second hand and craft sale on the tarmacked area in front of The Hub (formerly the Children's Centre).  We are raising funds for Target Ovarian Cancer, a charity that Mr Gardner and Mrs Hammond have been supporting in recent months. Our Kites children are busy making items to sell and we are still accepting donations which can be put in the small shelter in front of The Hub (no clothes or fabric items please).
  • Sals Shoes - We are unable to organise a school collection this year but Sam Taylor is organising a drop off point at her home in Hookley Lane, Elstead. Please see the letter on the Parent Portal for more information and click on the image to visit the charity's website.
  • Elstead Food Bank - Elstead Food Bank is holding a fundraising event next Saturday, 4th July.  Please support them if you can.

  • Support from CAMHS - (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) have created some webinar presentations to support  parents, in supporting their children with understanding anxiety, and some strategies to manage anxiety with the current circumstances of COVID and Lockdown in mind. The letter to all parents containing the links to the webinars is on the Parent Portal.
  • Home Learning Packs - Y3 and Y4 packs will be available, for those who have requested them, from the boxes outside the office from Monday afternoon.  .  Please collect packs promptly.
